Big Business Success for the Enterprise Society

Date

bigbusinesschallenge15

For the second year running the Enterprise Society ran their Big Business Challenge in partnership with Deloitte. A Dragon's Den style pitching event with a £500 cash prize for the winning team. Teams were given the brief of coming up with a new business involving a web or app based service or product over the course of just one day and then to pitch it to a panel of judges that very same afternoon. Five fantastic teams pitched their ideas to our panel including Ben Jervis a representative of Deloitte, Mark Taylor from Spark, the Universities startup services, and current Leeds student and founder of the MyCQs app James Gupta.

Their ideas covered everything from a new way to plan and build your dream home, an interactive travel map and guide all the way through through to a student loan company with a difference. However the winners were Team IB (International Business) with their Yellow Label app that tackled the mass amount of food waste produced by supermarkets. It was a tight decision and the judges commented on the quality of all the presentations however it was Team IB that came out on top and walked away with the £500 prize. They are now arranging talks with Spark to take this idea forward and develop the business.
