Research

Not surprisingly, research into enterprise covers a wide spectrum of areas. Including: learning for entrepreneurship & enterprise education; managing for regeneration, sustainability and growth; business support policy and practice; business creation and business closure; networks, innovation and resource acquisition; gender and enterprise; ICT, IT and e-business in the small firm sector; finance, venture capital, taxation and regulation; creative industries entrepreneurship; social, environmental and ethical enterprise; entrepreneurship in minority groups; family business.

LEC is a sponsor for the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE), which is the UK’s largest and most well established network for individuals and organisations involved in small business and entrepreneurship research, enterprise support and advice, entrepreneurship education and for those who formulate, deliver and evaluate policy in this area. All LEC staff are members of ISBE and Professor Nigel Lockett is currently the President.

Dr Sarah Underwood chairs the ISBE Social and Sustainable Enterprise Network (SSEN) special interest group.

Dr Sally Jones is an Organising Committee member of the ISBE Gender and Enterprise Network (GEN) special interest group. 

Professor Susan Marlow is Visiting Professor.
